1. Machu Picchu
I am sure that most people, especially those who like to travel, have heard of the sacred site of Machu Picchu. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983 and was declared one of the new seven wonders of the world in 2007. It is said that Machu Picchu is a religious site or a royal domain for the Inca rulers.
A trip to Machu Picchu is not the lowest activity in Cusco. First you need to get to the city of Aguas Calientes, which is a four-hour drive away.
Cusco is often used as a starting point to visit Machu Picchu, but you will stay in Aguas Calientes for a night or two.
2. hiking in Laguna Humantay
Laguna Humantay is one of the most beautiful sea hikes in the region and even in the country! It is part of the Salkantay Trek that shows the beauty of the surroundings of Cusco.
Doing this hike independently may seem too complicated for some, but it is also an adventure.
3. Explore the city center and take a free walking tour
It is difficult to miss the city center of Cusco during a visit. It will always be alive; even in the night there is always something to see and do.
A free hike is a popular activity for those who want to discover the history of Cusco while being shown by a local.
4. Have a beer and look over Cusco
One of my favorite things to do, especially when I arrive for the first time, is to find a nice Bar with a view of the city. In Cusco, it’s no different.
What we did was visit a Bar after walking to the Cristo Blanco. There are a lot of them to choose from, and you can also be tripped up.
Some popular ones include the Ivin Inka beer and the Santo Resto lounge. You might even meet a cat! Learn more about food in Cusco at 5 authentic Cusco Restaurants where you can eat like a local.
